Dr. Raskas was the President and CEO of Raskas Foods, Inc., the leading manufacturer of store-brand cream cheese products, before it was acquired by Schreiber Foods, Inc. in 2002. Prior to assuming his position at Raskas Foods in 1980, Dr. Raskas was a Professor of Pathology and Microbiology and the Director of the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Washington University School of Medicine. His research focused on viruses that cause tumors.
Dr. Raskas holds a B.S. in Life Sciences from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Harvard University. He currently serves on the advisory boards of Solon Gershman, Inc., Gershman Investment Corp. and The Republic of Tea, and is the Immediate Past President of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis. Since 2007, Dr. Raskas has served on the Board of Innovate St. Louis, an organization focused on strengthening entrepreneurial activity in St. Louis. In that capacity he serves as Chair of the Innovate Venture Mentoring Service, a voluntary mentoring program for entrepreneurial initiatives.
