Cortland takes management of institutional endowments and each family’s assets with the utmost seriousness. Clients should always expect and receive, not only our best investment management efforts, but also honest and thorough communication on all matters pertaining to their assets under management. Our relationship to our clients is not “cookie cutter.” We have a deeply personal and individualized connection to our investors. There will always be a fully candid review of recent financial developments. In addition, we will work with each client to develop realistic and well-reasoned strategies to meet their financial goals.

Two members of Cortland’s management oversee each client’s portfolio. This assures continuity and timely discussions with each client. We will always tell clients where we think we are right, where we have been wrong, and where we think opportunities and vulnerabilities exist. We treat our clients as partners in this endeavor – and always will. 

It should be noted that the commitment by Cortland’s managers to each equity investment is never theoretical. The same equity investments that are made for clients are made for our families and ourselves. Clients’ positions are bought and sold prior to actions taken on Cortland’s managers’ personal accounts. We are in Cortland’s investments together.
